A very active member of the Grosse Ile Nature and Land Conservancy recently reached out with information about a huge new project taken on by several future Eagle Scouts and two outstanding scholars.
These bright and industrious young leaders are Grosse Ile High School students. They went to GIHS Principal Paul Szymanski to discuss some ideas about a community project required to become Eagle Scouts. Principal Szymanski had some suggestions and among the group an exciting plan was agreed upon.
Principal Szymanski then called in Courtney Solenberger-McNeil, who he knew as a keen G.I. Citizen and parent of a GIHS student — as well as an active and involved member of GINLC — and Liz Hugel, Past GINLC president. They were able to organize some grants and funding.
