New resident acquires taste for business venture

By Kathy Kane

I was literally walking out the door to buy cupcakes for a Rotary event when I saw a post on Facebook by a friend who said she just tried these delicious cupcakes by a new business here in Trenton. I placed my order with Aubrey Burton and asked if I could talk with her more about her new endeavor.

KK: When did you start your home business?

Burton: In March of this year. My husband, Jesse, (daughter) Kinsley and I moved to Trenton only a few months ago. We love it here! We heard the schools were great for our baby, too.

KK: What inspired you to start making cupcakes?

Burton:  I am lucky to be a stay-at-home Mom and Kinsley (her 4-month-old baby girl) was the inspiration for the company name, Kinsley Cupcakes. My Mom taught me how to bake and I love baking. Our friends and family have been buying from me for years, but I just created a Facebook page in March and have sold about 40 dozen this month.

KK: What are people asking for the most?

Burton:  Well, we have done birthday parties, funerals, work parties and conferences. Sometimes it depends on the theme but our best sellers are the Snickers cupcakes and we also have had requests for Boston crème, chocolate chip cookie dough and caramel cupcakes.

KK: What do you currently use to produce your creations?

Burton:  I have one stove, four (one dozen) tins and a pan that I melt my own chocolate into various molds.

KK: It sound like you are making a name for yourself on Facebook with cupcakes. What’s next?

Burton:  Well, we just added a giant cupcake that has been selling really well and if it keeps going this well, we do have plans to expand in Trenton, hopefully. Make sure to check out Facebook, www.facebook.com/KinsleyCupcakes, and our Website, kinsleycupcakes.yolasite.com
